What is a good Verizon cell phone to get in bad service areas?

The cell phone service in the space that I live in is spotty, but I've had phones that worked here previously. I was wondering if anyone knows any phones that profession well in areas that have bad cell service.

I was a tech for a cell phone plc for a period of time in my life. All Verizon Wireless digital phones serve on 2/10ths of a watt of power. Different people swear by different phones for this or that, but essentially they all run on the same power. The old analog bag phones that could pick up almost anywhere were I believe 2 or 3 full watts of power if my homage serves me correctly (thus the reason they were in a bag, ie not a great idea to hold up to your head at that wattage level off :P). The only thing I could say (in my opinion, which again, isn't any more or less important than those who swear by this phone or that phone, and EVERY CUSTOMER had their own opinion on why their phone "was the first-class" :P), but the only thing I could say is that phones with pull out antennas seem to get a little better levee than phones with internal antennas (the phones where you don't see an antenna at all). But even then I don't know how much difference that would quite make. If you are in a bad service area, you're in a bad service area, there is no magic fix for that. Again, just my opinion. Your best bet is to counter all of the maps of all of the service providers in your area to see who "claims" the best service. Most carriers tear space off of one anothers towers. The carrier who owns the tower usually has their 6 foot extensive panels at the top, ie.. their signal will go farther than those on the rungs below them on the tower. Pick the carrier who shows the maximum effort coverage for your area on their map (don't call customer service and ask about towers and panels, they will have no idea what you are talking about, and tech stomach in the call centers are no different than customer care regarding the physical towers). Anyway, foresee that some of this rant was useful to your dilemma. Have a great day, and good luck..

Can you transfer your cell phone service onto a phone you buy from a different store or business?

I'm looking to buy a new cell phone and emergency to find out what my options are. I'm not crazy about the limited selection of cell phones that my service provider offers and would like to buy one elsewhere. Can you buy a phone from another estate (e.g. Walmart, ebay, etc.), take it to your cell service provider, and have your current plan transferred onto it, or can you only do this with phones that are bought from your service provider? Many stores transfer contract phones that are already linked with a certain service provider that offers a plan with buy. Is it true that there are codes that are already programmed in for just one provider? Can this be changed? And what about pre-paid phones - can you buy one and have a usual contract service transferred onto it? Please help! Thanks

You didn't put who your wireless porvider is, but I would incomparably recommend that you do not run out and buy a phone that is marketed with service for a different provider. There are a few different types of technology (GSM, CDMA, etc) being hardened in the U.S. right now and they are not all compatible - therefore the insides of the phone itself may be incompatible. Also - some phones will be sold with a subsidy imprison code to prevent it from being used with another wireless carrier.

All in all - I recommend you go directly to your wireless drayman and ask them if what they offer in the store is all they carry right now. Sometimes, they may have additional phones which are not in your market... or you may have been dealing with an authorized retailer who only sells absolute phones for your carrier.

Best wishes!
