Virgin mobile broadband - How to I ensure no one else taps in?
Jul 27, 2009 by Gallet | Posted in Other - Internet
Please express me how to set it up so that other people cannot roam onto my mobile broadband and use up my download allowance!! I have a Virgin mobile broadband USB modem.
Don't let them have the modem. If the modem is USB, that means it is plugged quickly into your computer. If you use it as a WIFI access point, any decent router will support WPA encryption. (Never use WEP, as it can be hacked in minutes.)

Is mobile broadband via a dongle sufficiently secure from eavesdropping to use it for Internet banking?
Jul 04, 2008 by Robert A | Posted in Computer Networking
I am intelligent of taking out a Vodafone mobile broadband contract here in the UK. Although not essential it would at times be useful to use it for banking/shopping. Would this be iffy?
Construct sure you use an encrypted setup and you will be fine.
There is not much money to be made cracking private routers. The crooks go for cracking convention networks, especially networks that handle lots of credit card transactions. It takes the same amount of occupation and is a lot more lucractive

Oct 10, 2008 by mmango6 | Posted in Computer Networking
I'm looking into perhaps purchasing a mobile broadband card, but want a better idea of how much they cost to use, preferably from someone who uses one.
Hey,
Exalted question. They can cost as much as $200. Good news is that there's a really good evaluation that covers all the mobile broadband cards on the market right now. Most of them are listed as free or less than $50. There are a link where you can make $100 from rebates.
Here's an excerpt from the review:
"There are 3 categories (USB, ExpressCards and PC Broadband Cards). Each gets compared side-by-side. See which take action fits your needs based on:
1. Network
2. Speed
3. Operating System Compatibility
4. Supplemental Features
5. Price
To sweeten the honey even further, you can click on any card to read the full procession and technical specifications."
The link is in the sources. Hope this helps!
