I have a 3 sim prankster (with a a contract phone). The handset I got with the contract has been damaged beyond repair.
Now I'm going to get a 3G compatable (pay as you go) phone originate vodaphone.
Will my 3 sim work in it?
It was my own fault the phone was damaged- it went for a spin in the washing gang!
No. You'll have to get to a purchase that specialises in unlocking them. And you will still have to see if they have the software to unlock your phone.
If your phone is going to be very new it's unacceptable they will have the software, but if it's been around a while then they probably will have it.
Remember, if you get your phone unlocked and it goes wrong you have no become public back. Certainly not from 3 or Vodafone.
Usually, there isn't a problem though.
LOL! I dropped mine in the bath a while back and the speaker went, everything else was pointed. Just couldn't hear anyone.
And 3G phones are fine Olly, you just had a bad experience as have I. I've had 3 Nokia N95s and the third is best with no faults.

Why do so many websites style such a big deal about 3G phones? My sprint Katana phone is 3G according to the back plate. And i have had this phone for almost 2 years now. What gives?
3G, or third contemporaries, allows for transmission of data and voice at the same time. It also transfers data back and forth faster to the network, allowing new features like video division, streaming music, etc.
Also, as it uses different frequencies (like 2100 mhz, for criterion) carriers are able to buy bandwidth in markets where they previously could not offer service...

bolo the 3g iPhone will not be qualified to be used as a modem, the original cannot be used either.
The thinking behind it is .. you already have full web access with the safari browser you dont needfulness to be able to teather to a computer.
