will a pentium 4 mobile processor work in a normal pentium 4 socket 478 mother board?

I have a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 Mobile P4M405 processor that I got as an upgrade for my laptop, but its discordant, so I need to know if it will work in a normal ATX Pentium 4 Motherboard (the processor in my desktop recently stony-broke as well, so I was going to use the chip to upgrade that instead of the laptop, but I need to find a suitable motherboard)

The short answer is probably not. Asus had an adapter a long time ago that allowed using laptop CPUs on some of their desktop motherboards. I don't keep in mind the exact details, but that is the big picture.
So unless you have a Asus motherboard with a 865/875 chipset (I don't about which one it was, but it's is one of those for sure), the answer is no.

I don't see how that could be done. The computer equipment would never support the much different/newer software.
