My chum lives in russia and i was wondering how much would it cost her to send me a text message(sms)!!!

You can, but it would not be the most cot real way to do.

I would rather advice you to get a calling plan to use for your phone calls to Russia. There are quite a few plans and cards present in the US. One of the companies that I can suggest you to use would be Master Call Communications. They have quite good calling plans to Russia. You can try and investigate and I am sure you'll find quite a few that offer good calling plans. They would give you instructions how to call. And you would be adept to make calls rom any phone through the access code.

There might be also different calling cards present for long distance calls. They used to sell them at Russian stores.

You can also use Skype for pattern or any other VOIP resources. And then it's just a matter of dialing a phone number you want to call.
