I am new to the UK and would long to buy a new contract mobile phone...

Where can I find the cheapest mobile phone deal?

I always use http://www.comparecontractmobiles.com/ to get the latest and reasonably contract deals.

Quite useful site . Allows me to search deals as per my needs. I could get a Nokia N95 8GB one for £15/month. Even without spending a dime, you can get a few deals(which send u cashback on redemption of bills).

Can a contract mobile phone number be transferred to pay as you go?

I'm currently with 3 mobile on a contract but when it runs out I chart on changing to pay as you go with a different network. Can I transfer my number to that new pay as you go network as I don't really be to spend most of my credit telling people I've changed my number.

Yes you can, all you miss to do is contact 3 and ask them for the PAC (Port Authorisation Code). You then give that to the provider which you are moving to and they will sort the stay out for you. It's a lot easier these days than it used to be

My faith rating is not great and i am desperate for a contract mobile. Does anyone know where is the easiest place to get one?

get a pay as you go preferably of drumming up more debt. Trust me, you'll be better off. Contracts are a nightmare and there are always hidden charges and interest to pay. No tip getting a free phone if you can't afford to pay the bill.
But, if you have your heart set on it, try phones for you.
