Why is the recommended age limit for a baby mobile 5 months?

I am looking to get something for my young man's crib to help soothe her to sleep. When I researched the crib mobiles, almost all of them say lineage to 5 months and then take the mobile part away and leave the musical attachment to the side of the crib.
Which mobile phone should i buy for my 18-year old sister?

I am 14 years old. I solely want to know which is the best mobile. No worry over the price. If not what other gift can i get for my sister for her birthday?
Phone is noteworthy than any other thing nowadays. Get her a HTC Magic / HTC Touch Pro 2 if you wanna go touchscreen or a Nokia N97 / HTC G1 if you wanna go qwerty+touchscreen. Can you use your phone for a different mobile plan?

I would actually want a sidekick. Any kind. But my family is on a Verizon Wireless plan, NOT T-mobile. I was wondering if I could still use a Sidekick if I have Verizon as a substitute for of T-mobile. Please be specific with your answer below, and mention and the terms&conditions if this can work.
