Remove Windows Mobile and Install PalmOS on Treo 700w?
Dec 12, 2006 by Turd Ferguson | Posted in PDAs & Handhelds
I reasonable bought the Treo 700w from Verizon today. It really sucks. It is kidding flawed, but I saved $50 by buying the Windows Mobile version.
My question is: Does anyone have knowledge of how I can "format" (or, at the least, remove Windows Mobile from) my Treo and install the Palm OS--the same Palm OS that's on the 700p? There's got to be a way since the W and P computer equipment are identical.
Above, but can't be done.
Although the 700w and 700p look very similar on the outside, on the inside they are different. To start with, they have assorted screens. The 700w has a resolution of 240x240 pixels, while the 700p has a 320x320 wall off. Also, from what I can make out of the data on the Palm website, they probably have slightly different room phone radios inside them.

schrankmonster blog » Apple iTunes for Windows Mobile 5 spotted!!!
UPDATE: even more pictures and testing here…
I managed to get my hands on Apple iTunes for Windows Mobile 5.0 . After the Motorola ROKR Apple seems to get unquestioningly into the mobile phone area. As my sources spill one's guts there will be a notable facts rebuke for T-Mobile bundled with devices that give up with iTunes (possibly we’ll see an true spot willingly).
The rendition I could proof was iTunes for Windows Mobile 5.0 type 0.9 . Although it looks extremely terminated (everything (except bonjour) is in come about and even podcast sync worked like a champ (see double)) it’s not a client convenient money variety. I don’t distinguish anything about the liberation dates or word dates at the trice.
Some words to the graphical operator interface: Apple unambiguous to use the well known iTunes in favor of the iPod owner interface. Since the buttons and functionalities are all where I expected them it’s as weak to use as the “big” variation of iTunes.
I did not have the occasionally for an in-perspicacity assess yet but it seems that it is not little in the way the Motorola ROKR is. Nevertheless I was not skilled to sync it with a PC/Mac iTunes yet since there are no drivers (and I haven’t got any) I successfully copied 1 GB of MP3/AAC files onto a SD Come clean and I could underline it all. When I inserted the SD Carte de visite iTunes automatically searched for media files and rebuilt it’s library. After some seconds I could start listening.
It’s about 6 AM here and I had no sleep – so more after I woke up…
Hmmm, I rely on this is be realized, but I sight if it is justified an garnish hoax? Does this not cannibalize iPod sales? If this runs on my Dell Axim X50V, I dubiety I would have think to securing an iPod or iPod nano; I already have an iPod be evasive which is bonny meritorious for playing chance music, but not so right for navigating around podcasts or audiobooks. This subgenus of emotional attachment would otherwise be realize (assuming it finally syncs with iTunes on PC or Mac).
