How do I wire two telephone handsets together with a 9v battery to ring out wires?

I have seen technicians with two a buzz handsets each with alligator clips on them. The hook one telephone handset on a pair of wires and the other on the other end and can talk. A 9v battery is taped to one handset. I bought two payphone handsets meditative I could do the same thing but have not got it working. Are pay phone handsets different? Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the way to wire the battery into the handsets?

I have a Panasonic Cordless Phone W/ 3 Handsets and would like to add a 4th handset. Will it employment even though the base only has three buttons for handset locators?

if the derive only has 3 handset locator buttons, then chances are that only 3 handsets can be paired, or registered with the main found...

there are cordless phones that support additional handsets, but you would need to purchace a handset that is compatible with the vigour base unit...

you did not provide the model number, if you can provide the model covey, or check in the user manual for the model number that you have (available as PDF file on panasonic website if you unchaste your manual) then someone would be able to give you a more definate answer, but based on the fact that the base has 3 handset locator buttons, I do not accept that another handset can be added to increase the number of handsets that you have, however if one handset becomes defective, it may be possible (if there is a compatible add on handset) to restore just the handset..

When you have 3 or 4 telephone handsets, do they need to be plugged into a BT socket?

I'm not convinced if it's just the main basestation that needs to be plugged into a BT socket or all of the handsets as well or do they work remotely/wirelessly? Or do the handsets perfectly need to be plugged into the mains to charge?

Only the primary base station needs to be plugged into the phone line. All other handsets just demand an electrical supply to the charging cradles.
