i want to buy an external mobile hard drive, can i load an operating system on it?

I long for to buy an external mobile hard drive. Can i load an operating system ie Windows XP so i can use this as a platform to load some other applications.

i take it will be a usb hard zip? as far as i know, you can't boot to a usb device so probably not. they're usually just used for storage, accessed by windows on your conduit hard drive

I have mobile USB Hard Tour, i always take around with me but i'm afraid that my co-worker might take it to steal my files or important documents.

I have password which i occupied to proctect it from my own computer but if you use it in another computer everything will be open. Please how can i proctect my files or keep them invisible or stop displaying the files in every computer?

One feasibility is using whole-disk encryption, and there are several free alternatives such as TrueCrypt. Pay special heed to the FAQs and the warnings, though, because you can lose access to the files if you are not careful.

Unless you have formatted the outside drive as NTFS, you cannot use the built-in encryption provided by Windows, assuming you are using Windows.

I fancy to know which manufacturer makes the best quality hard drives in regards to longevity and dispatch and of course price....BTW im trying to keep my spending down to 100 at max with obviously the most gb expanse as possible....Any ideas guys? Thanks
