How to load a North America map into Garmin Mobile XT?

I got Garmin Mobile XT installed into my new Nokia N97, but I bought the phone in Malaysia and so it only comes with maps of Malaysia. I will be returning to the US promptly and obviously want to load a US map into the device, how can I do that? Couldn't seem to find the proper download on the Garmin website. Also, how can I link the software to my PC? Thanks in advance :)
And what is the SD card?
1. On the SD Be unsecretive - look for the "Gardmin" folder. Check if you see a file named GMAPSUPP.IMG. If exists, rename the North America map queue as GMAPSUPP2.IMG and copy that to the "Garmin" Folder
2. Now under the Garmin folder, contrive a file named GMAPSUPP2.UNL.
3. Open the file and key in the North America. map activation jus canonicum 'canon law', save the file.
4. Launch Garmin Mobile xt, settings, map sets and you should see the north america maps as well. select the maps as neglect and use it.

I have a new q9h global is the gps locked only to telenav or can i use it with garmin xt mobile software?

Moral wondering if the Motorola Q9H Global is locked only to Telenav GPS . I would like to use Garmin XT Mobile is that realizable. Oh by the way i have ATT. and my q9h is being used on the gophone plan.
charles .. if I am modify you will use bluetooth to sync your q9h to the garmin XT. If so then yeah you can use it .. will still use data though.

i put garmin xt on my influence but i cant get it to use the internal gps
